Process Art: Banana Tattoos
Our 5th graders learned about modern artist Phil Hansen, known for his process art that he referred to as "Goodbye Art." With this type of art, the process itself of making the piece, is the art rather than the product. In fact, the product is destroyed in the end with nothing to show of the creation. Using this concept, students carved into a banana creating fun images, that later would rot and disappear, characterizing the art as "ephemeral."
